Detached

The goal for this picture was to see how forest fires are so harmful and that was my only connection to nature because when I was younger I did a program where I taught young children about how harmful forest fires are.

What if all the plants died?

The goal of this project was to show what the harmful effects of smoke and air pollution has on the planet.  I wanted people to see it and think what would really happen if the nature in the world died.  I meant for this project to send the message of how pollution is so bad.

Products for Teenage Girls

My goal for this project was for my project to be meant for teenage girls.  When they see this I would want them to say "wow, I really wish that was real".  This piece is about how once you solve any problems about how you look you can focus on personality and what is really important.

Heroic Act

My goal for this project was to not make this of a specific person that the public would know by name but an average person doing an act of heroism.  It is about a soldier rescuing a child from a war zone.

End of term review

How has this term gone for you?
What have you learned?
How have you grown as an artist?
What has surprised you?
What do you think your biggest successes have been so far?
What have been your biggest challenges?
If you could, what advice would you give to yourself about the class at the start of the term?
Looking ahead, what do you need to consider and/or work on to continue to grow as an artist?

This term in Intermediate Drawing and Paint has been very enjoyable and create for me.  I enjoyed most of the projects because I thought they were at a good level for me and had a lot of diversity all of which I love.  I have learned a lot about how to draw with color and how to shade it to look like what I want.  I have acquired a talent for different materials outside my comfort zone such as paint and colored pencil like in the three products assignment and the hero project.  In the hero assignment I learned how to shade with color pencil.  Before I did that project, I always thought of color pencils as something that could never make a realistic picture but after I finished I learned that they could go either way depending on how you used them.  I think that in a way that helped me grow as an artist and broaden my horizon on materials.  At the beginning of this term and before the term I always favored charcoal and now at the end of the term I realize that I can paint well and incorporate my love for the smokey look of charcoal into other works of art.  In the hero assignment I was going for a certain look for the background and although my main material was colored pencil, I added charcoal in to make the smoke become 3D and more real.  It surprised me a lot to see how I did with paint, I always was afraid of paint and would stay away from it because I knew you could not erase, but I learned that its not hard to go over any mistakes.  I think that my biggest success has been my progress in that class.  I cannot say that one of my pieces was the most successful, I think that my creativity level and my ability to use other materials is the most successful part.  My biggest challenge has been to make the human body, I like making more modern art and creative and abstract so to create an exact copy of a person is very challenging.  If I could talk to myself in the start of the term I would tell me to steer away from charcoal and try new materials and different types of artwork.  Looking ahead I want to make more diverse work yet still keeping my mood and personality in the pieces.

Heros

Wall Street Journal:
Tourre: A Hero in Villain's Garb?
Japan’s Unsung Tech Heroes
Most of these were just about how people have revolutionized a specif
thing in their field. In these articles it means to be a hero if you
make a difference in another life, if you are in the government and
you make a change for the better or if you helped make lives easier in
a way.  To me a hero is someone who makes a difference in another life
for the better and on purpose.

What if...feedback

The idea of my project is to have all the plants die, I would have a path through the middle of the picture.  The path shows the human life that once lived but because of the pollution the humans produced and the gases in the air caused all plant life to die.  Some recommendations for my "What if" project is to add color to my project so that the path doesn't blend into the trees and it has some sort of life to it.
